Golden Tote Review November 2015

This is my first time trying Golden Tote! Golden Tote is kind of like an ultimate ‘Surprise Grab Bag’ filled with clothing and accessories for women, with inventory that changes monthly. You go to the site, fill out your style profile, pick 1-2 items from the current inventory that you love and the stylists at Golden Tote pick out a few additional “surprise items” to fill your tote. The price point on Golden Tote is more reasonable than some other monthly subscription boxes. 

 

You choose:

Small tote ($49 with 2-3 pieces total)

$99 “surprise” tote

Large tote ($149 with 5-6 pieces total). 

Golden Tote is an all-or-nothing deal. Either you keep it all, or you send it all back, but there’s no in between. 

So, on to the fun stuff! I went with the $149 tote for my first time. I got to pick 2 items (and they surprised me with three more), and these are the ones I chose (the trouser leg jean and the Moto jacket): 

Ok, I wish I would have known that the Trouser Leg Jean look is not for my 5’2″ frame. lol Maybe they would have been better if they weren’t so long on me, but even with heels, these were wayyyyyy too long. They were size 26, by the way. But I think they were made for someone with incredibly long legs. lol Take a look: 

I even rolled them! lol So, needless to say, I am selling these. I am a part of a Golden Tote Facebook Group where you can buy, sell, or trade items that you don’t want. If you are going with Golden Tote, I highly recommend joining this group! You can also get some great styling tips. 

Up next was the Hooded Moto Jacket. Oh my gosh, I am in love! I seriously feel like a rock star when I’m wearing this! 

 

Because this jacket is a high price point, I “only” got five items in my tote, but seriously, the quality is amazing, and it is so comfy and warm that I would have paid almost the whole price of the tote for this one! Totally keeping.

Next is the Illa Illa Vertical Stripe Cable Knit Sweater. Ick. As soon as I put it on, I felt like I was 30 years older. lol Even Superman said I looked frumpy and old. However, I knew it would look adorable on someone. So, this one I decided to offer up for free to a lucky person in the Golden Tote Facebook group. It found its happy home, and I hope the new owner loves it!

 

This next item, the Skies Are Blue Plaid Button Down Shirt, I was on the fence about. This is not normally my style, but I was willing to give it a try! 

Even though it was pretty cute, I loved the material, and it was something new for me, I ended up deciding that I don’t love it, so I’d rather sell it in the Golden Tote Facebook group. 

Last up is this Puella Blue Cardigan! Again, not normally my style, but I actually really liked it, and Superman was a fan, so I decided to keep it! 

So, overall, I decided to keep two of my five items, donate one, and sell the other two. It was a ton of fun getting a surprise box, but being able to pick a few items that I thought I’d love, too!

So, what did I think about Golden Tote overall? 

All of the items were great quality and stylish. I think my stylist did a fantastic job picking my surprise items based on my style profile. Plus, I think $149 for five items is a great deal, especially when I got that Moto jacket!

Is Golden Tote for everyone? It depends on how adventurous you are! If you love the idea of having someone pick some clothes out for you without having to go shopping, and you have a tighter budget, this could definitely be for you! Many of the brands Golden Tote uses are only available via wholesale so they’re pretty unique as well.
