Texture: All your favorite magazines in one place!
I recently got a free trial to Texture, and I’ve been dying to share it with you! It’s been called the “Netflix for magazines,” and that pretty much sums it up! I wanted to try it out for myself for a few weeks before letting you all know about it, though. As you most likely know, I don’t recommend or endorse products on my blog that I don’t use and love myself!
Texture is an app available for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, Android devices, and Amazon Fire tablets that has tons of magazines all in one place. It had pretty much every magazine I could think of right there in the app!
Here’s what Texture is:
- Unlimited access to a huge collection of magazines
- Easy to use (Seriously, even a Baby Boomer could use it!)
- A life simplifier (no more looking in different magazines for that article…you can just use the search box! Watch my video below to see how I used that search feature)
- A tree saver (Think of all the trees you’re saving by not buying paper magazines!)
Here’s what Texture isn’t:
- Boring
- Lame
- Useless
- Hard to use
- A personal chef (I wish!)
One of my favorite parts of the app was that it can help people stick to a specific diet, with magazines for gluten-free, diabetic, health-conscious and vegetarian readers! I obviously added some gluten free and clean-eating magazines to my faves. =) This app can definitely help a ton if you’re changing to a gluten-free diet, and need inspiration and resources about how to stay on the right track. In the issue of Gluten Free Living that I saved as a favorite, there was a great article on hearty gluten-free lunches for kids and adults alike, as well as how to move your whole family to a gluten-free diet!
On Texture, you can either dive into your favorite magazines for inspiration and save stories for later, or use the search bar to find a particular recipe from one of Texture’s 26 food and cooking magazines (this is one of my favorite features!)
Here’s my short video showing how I navigate through the app:
I added some mags to my favorites (for some reason, my junk entertainment magazines happened to be further down on the screen…I’m such a sucker for People and InTouch Weekly):
And here are some election highlights for me to read so that I don’t have to go to a bunch of different sites trying to find the news:
I just happened to be scrolling through articles the app felt were relevant to me when I saw this:
I was totally excited because I just started a “Supper Club” with a handful of my neighbors and our first gathering was going to be in a few days. I found some great ideas in that article, and was sold on the app in about 3 seconds when I saw how relevant it was to me! Here’s a pic of a few of my neighbors and me doing our first Supper Club gathering:
It was such a blast and I loved getting inspiration from my Texture app to make the evening beautiful!
