A few months ago, I was scrolling through a Stitch Fix Facebook group that I’m part of and I saw a post from a retired military gal who shared how wonderful Stitch Fix has been for her. This is what she said:
I can’t tell you how happy I am with Stitch Fix. I was in the military and wore nothing but combat boots and camouflage and my hair in a bun for 21 years. I retired last year and never felt comfortable in the clothes I was buying. I told my stylist all of this and asked her to “fix” me and teach me how to dress for success as a 40-year-old student who wasn’t interested in wearing the same clothes the 18-20 somethings wear. I requested to have the same stylist and Jennifer has styled 3 fixes and I’m 5/5. Somehow this girl figured out what clothes fit my 5’10” height and my big legs and that I can actually wear skinny jeans. I’m very confident when I’m in my “fix” clothes. I wear them most of the time. Stitch Fix has been very positive for me. If I knew what to buy myself and I felt confident and comfortable in the clothes I tried on in stores I wouldn’t do this. I keep reminding myself that I’m fortunate to be able to have this service and I can afford it. Stitch Fix has been a fix to my style and shopping problems.
As soon as I read that, I knew I need to interview her! So, I asked her a few questions, and wanted to share a little piece of her story with you!
Meet LouAnn.
LouAnn is wearing items from her most recent fix and looks adorable! Want to get to know this awesome woman? Read on!
Tell us a little bit about yourself–where are you from, what you did for the last 20 years?
I’m originally from Powers Lake, ND. I was in the Air Force and retired last August.
How was the transition retiring from the military and getting back into “regular” life? What was the greatest challenge for you?
I’ve realized that I don’t like the term transition. I have come up with a different way to describe it. I will coexist in the world and do it to the best of my ability. I don’t know that transitioning would make sense because I know I will never be without the skills and abilities that I learned.
What made you decide to try Stitch Fix?
I did a Google search for subscription services one day just to see if there was anything interesting. I’d seen some workout subscription boxes and wanted to see if there were other companies that did other things like this. I saw Stitch Fix and though that I’d give it a shot because I was going to be going to school and was majoring in Mass Communications. I knew I would need some professional-looking clothes. I was never good at buying clothes for myself and thought this might be a good way to get some nice pieces for my wardrobe.
What has been the best part of using Stitch Fix to help style your wardrobe?
It’s very stress free and easy to manage. I have articulated to my stylist what I am looking for and what I need clothes for and she has delivered every time.
Is there anything you would change about your Stitch Fix experience?
No, I’ve enjoyed it and will continue to use the service in order to keep my wardrobe updated and looking professional.
Have you noticed your confidence level and/or the way you carry yourself change since you’ve started wearing clothes sent to you from Stitch Fix?
I feel much more confident when I’m wearing clothes from Stitch Fix. I know that they are a great company and they work very hard to provide a good service for their customers.
Would you recommend Stitch Fix to others? If so, why?
I would recommend it. I would also make sure to communicate your needs with your stylist so they can use that information to help you out.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Stitch Fix has helped me to become more confident in the clothes I wear and choose from my closet. When I have to interview people for newstories and present my projects, I know that what I’m wearing is good quality stuff that I feel confident in.
