We took an hour today. Ironically, being contained on our property and in our home over these past few weeks, we have spent little time actually “together.” The weekdays are taken up with a structured schedule of school, working on the property, doing chores, eating food (and having 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lunch…), Zoom meetings, and tv time. My 2020 Lent Commitment
Every year for Lent I choose something to focus on and commit to. Ten years ago, I committed to getting up early to pray for my husband who was baffling the doctors and incredibly sick. God answered our prayers in big ways, and shortly after that he was diagnosed with celiac disease and we finally were able to start his road to healing. I'm doing something different. Every year since as far back as I can remember, I've made New Year's goals. My method has changed over the years, but I would usually do one physical, one spiritual, one emotional, and one relational. Last year I did "19 for 19." The tree was put up last night.
The tree was put up last night. One Christmas Eve when I was in elementary school, I was determined to catch Santa. I went to bed, but every hour or so I would quietly creep up the stairs and peek through the banister to see if I could catch Santa filling our stockings. 10 pm...nothing. 11 pm...nothing. Midnight...nothing. 1 am...nothing. Somehow I fell asleep and woke up at about 4 am. I quickly (but quietly!) tiptoed up the stairs and peeked. The stockings were full!! I missed him yet again.
