My dad was East Indian, and as a result, I grew up eating Indian Roti. It was delicious. The warm tortilla-like soft bread dipped in a traditional Indian dish and the memories of scooping up a bit of rice and meat and stuffing it into my mouth still make my heart go pitter-patter. I miss it, I’ll admit. But I don’t miss it enough to go buy some wheat flour.
And thennnnnnnnn……I stumbled upon a new (well, new to me…) blog. It’s incredible. So much inspiration! And she had a recipe for…what’s that? Grain-free tortillas? Initially I didn’t expect much. I mean, I’ve tried other “tortilla” recipes before and I wasn’t about to go shout from the rooftops. Check out the recipe: Real Sustenance’s “Paleo Flax Tortillas.” I doubled the recipe and added sauteed onions. They bring back memories of Indian Roti like nothing else. I’m still playing with the ingredients. Let me know what you decide to add in!
