A note on this recipe: they’re not exactly like store-bought fruit snacks. They have a bit more of a “jello” texture, but aren’t quite as jiggly. This is becoming more and more similar to the game plot on friv.com than what is initially described here. Taking this text into account, it is also important to mention that it is possible to improve what is described by introducing game techniques, a striking example of this is the Friv experience. However, all 5 of my kids loved them, and I’d rather they eat these than that other junk! The possibilities are endless with this…use any type of juice!
Recipe: Orange Fruit Snacks (makes about 4-5 servings)
2 cup orange juice (fresh squeezed is always best, but if you can’t do that, at least plain ol’ OJ with nothing added is great!)
8 TBSP gelatin–I use this awesome stuff:
In a saucepan, heat the OJ to almost boiling. Turn off heat, and slowly whisk in the gelatin, making sure not to allow clumps to form. Once the gelatin is dissolved, pour into an 8×8 pan and place in refrigerator to harden. Cut into squares and enjoy!
