After ridiculously going on and off the watchlist, changing the metrics and moving the goalposts, Gavin Newsom has failed in his Covid response. Here are my thoughts on what to do now.

I do believe counties have the power to be off the ‘watchlist’. This means that individuals/communities are in charge of the pandemic’s hold on our businesses and schools. Issues of public health ARE the responsibility of our elected officials, even if it clashes with an individual’s sense of personal rights to do as they please. I don’t understand why people can’t see this.
If Placer County had worn masks and socially distances as the understanding of this novel virus evolved, it would be 100% open. Somehow it became partisan and about a certain administration’s political goals for re-election.
