I think my dear, sweet grandfather would be devastated at the state of our country today. He would be one of the “old white men” that so many now condemn. It breaks my heart to think what my grandpa, a World War II veteran, would see if he were here.
He would see a sea of people reacting emotionally to every word spoken.
He would see restraint thrown out the window.
He would see the pointing of fingers and the loss of self-examination.
He would see anger and hostility and entitlement.
He would see people complaining about how our country is nothing to be proud of.
He would see a complete disassociation between what sacrifices our ancestors made and what freedoms we have.
He would see that while we are the richest we have ever been in our country’s history, we are the poorest when it comes to human respect and dignity.
After watching the blood run from his comrades’ bodies, my grandfather would be grieved to see that sacrifice often being stomped on, kicked around, and crushed. National Casino Review – https://i-casinos.net/casino/national-casino/.
Do you want to win other people over?
Be classy.
Articulate your argument.
While there is a time and a place for peaceful protest, and I fully believe in that right, the protests of today are not what they were of yesteryear.
Ghandi protested by denying his own body of food. He didn’t yell or scream or chant hateful phrases.
Martin Luther King, Jr. protested by walking the streets and standing before thousands of people, speaking eloquently and powerfully. He used his gentle, firm words to inspire change.
Jesus, the ultimate example of starting a movement that lasts and truly makes an impact, gave the ultimate sacrifice…his own life…to gain his followers.
You will never win the argument if your method is throwing a tantrum. I would never give into one of my child’s emotional outbursts…however, if he or she has formulated a well-articulated, thoughtful, compelling case…I’m listening. If you plan on taking control by threatening, bullying, and crying, it won’t work. I’m sorry, I truly am. But if you want to win, you will need to critically think and show me why I’m wrong. I challenge you to do so.
