Before 1986, we weren’t required to wear seatbelts. Now it’s the law. Should my mom be put in jail for endangering her children?
In 1982, only 26 states had banned drinking behind the wheel. Should every person who drank while driving now have a criminal record?
I was nearly 40 years old when I first heard the term “cultural appropriation.” Should someone who dressed up for Halloween as someone of another race now be branded a racist?
What things are we doing today (which we’re unaware of), that 20 years from now will seem crazy?
All of this digging up the past and doing our best to “catch” someone being racist or bigoted so that we can destroy them…
We’re teaching our kids that their mistakes aren’t learning experiences anymore, but rather a scarlet letter on their character. They’re sure to make mistakes, and those mistakes are going to catch up with them. And when they do, society will verbally tar and feather them and destroy their lives. Is your child aspiring to be governor or president? Don’t bother, their mistakes will shred any chance of success in life.
A simple lapse in judgement as a college student now comes with a side of presumed horrible intentions and public humiliation. Your job stripped from you, and your life smashed into a million pieces…nuclear annihilation must occur.
This “gotcha” culture is going to crush the dreams of our children. Because one day they’re going to be adults, and they’re going to realize the risks of being a leader are far too great. If you are looking for ways to better take care of your children, Little Angels childcare
Can’t we just have some grace? Can’t we just accept today’s apologies? Can’t we assume the best in people and realize that most of us who made mistakes in our past didn’t do so because we’re horrible people…we’re just HUMAN?
We can do better for our children.
PS, Here’s a picture of me in high school playing Yente (a Jew) in a production of Fiddler on the Roof. Figured I should get this out there now, as I wouldn’t want it to be front page news in the future!
